Default Nearly ready to give up

Ok, so I have worked on getting SugarCRM running for four days. Its been issue after issue.

    The consistent facts:
    Running on W2K3

    Other:
I have tried installing using the Bitrock WAMP stack.

I have tried a standalone using PHP 5 and PHP 4. Tried mysql 4.1 and mysql 5. I have also tried using IIS. Each time I have started with a completely fresh install.

Seems upgrading to the newest release created even bigger issues.

In NONE of these cases has SugarCRM run properly. The biggest and most prevelent issue is that whenever I add a new task or case null values are inserted into the database... everything else SEEMS to be ok, but who knows.

I want my business to rely on this solution so I cant have a major data issue two weeks or three months or a year after I start using it. As a small business owner who spends the majority of my time working on IT projects for clients I cant really spend a lot of time rebuilding a solution or trying to recover lost or inconsistent data.

I dont really have the time to spend days troubleshooting the issues, Im self employed and time is of the essence. I know I could probably go in and debug all this myself and fix the issues, but then I am forking off of the project, which makes upgrading difficult if not impossible. Not something I want to fget into. i just want it to work and be realiable. I do not have the time to configure a Linux server for this.

Anyone who can give me advice on how to run SugarCRM FLAWLESSLY on a Windows 2003 server?

Oh I do want to point out that I have thourghly read the install guide, the bitrock install info and this thread http://www.sugarcrm.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8261, so I dont feel I am doing anything wrong here.

I also wanted to say that I have tried installing mysql locally as well as on a seperate dedicated database server. neither configuration makes a difference

    Hi,
I don't use Bitrock, but am running SugarCRM 4.0/4.2 on Windows 2003 Server without any problem. It is OK with any of PHP4, PHP5, Apache, MySQL 4.1, MySQL 5.1.

So there will be another issue in your configuration.

Isn't there anything important in your Apache log or sugarcrm.log?

My first install was not with Bitrock, I prefer more control and therefore used PHP 5 and MySQL 4.1 w/ IIS6 and installed SugarCRM on my own. It wasnt until day three I tried the Bitrock method and only after I completely stripped SugarCRM and MySQL from the machines.

I have reviewed the sugarcrm.log and there is nothing in it after the install.

Reviewing the apache logs just shows the startups and a open_basedir restriction in effect which happened when i tried to upload a log. i gnored this as it wasnt a priority at the time. There are various File does not exist errors for images, but again, nothing to be concerned about.

The issue truly is that the updates and inserts ARE happening, they are just inserting null data. So technically there shouldnt be an error. IMHO its not best practice database design to allow a field to be null when the data should be required anyway (assigned_user_id and name for a task are allowed to be null?)...

So the issues is to figure out why the data is being inserted as nulls... which I dont have the time to do and should not be happening anyway. Im just goign to scrap SugarCRM for the time being and maybe come back to it later. Chances are Ill purchase a solution which is proven reliable on Windows, like MS Dynamics.

    I do appreciate you suggestions!
