Default Need help building simple module

I'm trying to build a module called a Quote Log. I want to pull information out of my quote form into this log every time a quote is made. When I build the Log in the module builder, do I make my relationship One to Many from Quotes to Quote Log or the other way around?

    Thanks!

    Hi there!!

For what i understood, you need a relationship going from Quotes log to Quotes, a "one Quote Log to many Quotes". This will create a sub-panel in your Quote Log record for those Quotes associated with it, this relationship will also add a new field to your Quotes form.

Now, lets say you have a Quote Log record for January, then, when you create a new Quote, you'll have to select in the new field in your Quotes form, the record for the January Log. With this, your record in Quotes Log will have that Quote in the sub-panel, this sub-panel can be edited in studio to display the fields you need from the related Quote.

The relationship can be made in studio, in the Quotes Log relationships.

I hope this is what you need.

    Cheers & Good luck!!

I create the quote first, then certain information would be pulled from that and put into the Log when I pull up the log. So, I need to make sure I have the same field names in for both so they can be used in both pages. Is this correct? I've found, mostly by accident, that if I use a one-to-many relationship, say from Quotes to Quote Log, that fields from Quotes will be available for me to use in Quote Log. (at least that's the way I thought it worked, but like I said, most of the times it was by accident.)

Sorry if you know this, but a Quote Log is a list of quotes done at the time of the quote, but with much less information.

So, based on the above info, should I change the relationship to "One quotes to many quote log"?? I don't need the information in the Quote form, but some info from the quote form needs to be on the Log.

    Confused yet?? I almost am

I would make a relation quotes 1:n quotes_log and in quotes_log make any fields that you need populated. After that make logic_hooks that will fire after quote is saved and create/update quotes_log with any information you need.
