Need to solve class.smtp.php timeout error

Hi there,

OS: Version Windows XP
SugarCRM : sugarsuite-full-4.2.0
Apache: 1.3.27
MySQL : 4.0.17
WebBrowser : IE
Desktop: Localhost

I have successfully installed Sugar CRM ; these are my basic assumptions

a) the install screen of sugarcrm display green in all its message
b) i have also put the cur, imap dll as pointed in php.ini
c) i have increased the max_execution_time = 90

and in the admin page my emails settings configured to

a) in EMAIL options i have set myemail addrs, reply address, other address, Email Client (SugarCRM), Plain TextEmail
in Outbound Email settings i have choosen SMTP server details (Gmail SMTP), i have only gmail to test this
in Inbound email settings i have choosen SMTP server details (Gmail POP3) as i have only gmail to test this

and now my problem

Composed a mail and sent from MyAccount
it shows available in the sent items list
Error in Outbound : I get timeout exception with the "class.smtp.php timeout error"
Error in Inbound: when Clicked Test: popup shows POP3 connection broken in response

I went through the most of the forums but i am not able to get an answer suitable to make my test success

I tried to configure scheduler on windows, oops, no luck.

since i am struck here i did not go ahead on mass mails.

am i doing the right thing ? or have i missed something please advise me

We are having the same problem....after upgrading to 4.2.1 ...
This issue is a real problem !

We have sugar running on 2 servers, and outbound smtp email works on one but not the other. The only difference between the systems seems to be the version of PHP. Both have sugar 4.2.1 installed.

Dear Sugar Team,

I was so wondering, why i don't get replys of my emails i sent to clients & suppliers, but i was busy with other bugs ;-)
Today morning, i sent a message with a copy to my private address, but their never arrived....

Excactly after the upgrade to Sugar 4.2.1 professional, (no error messages) all emails i wrote, where not sent.. Pls advise me how i can fix that.
