    Unhappy network config problem cannot ping or login

    I have installed the ISO version of sugar- 4.2.1b and am having some problems accessing the CRM app on my network.

    this is my network config;

    sugar is on 192.168.2.9 with a netmask of 255.255.255.0
    my router/gatway is 192.168.2.1
    Primary DNS server is 192.168.2.4 (windows box- can ping the hostname crm.mycompany.com)
    Secondary DNS is the ISP (confirmed that that is working)

    hostname; crm.mycompany.com (mycompany.com is just what I am using here)

    I cannot ping 192.168.2.9 (my sugar install box)
    I can login to the app but only if I am connected directly- no web.

    Router is configured correctly, to make sure I forwarded the port to another server on the network and got thru OK.

    The only other thing I can think of is that is running on a VMware GSX server- but this has no effect on the 3 other servers because they are all set up the same as above, but with different IP's. This is the only linux box I have going right now, and I am a bit rusty.

    when logged in as root I cannot ping router or dns server but when I ping crm.mycompany.com I get 127.0.0.1 and that it is alive.

    any ideas?

    I have also tried with the rpath vmware appliance- and it seems it assigns a automatic IP,
    and I cannot ping that either.

    You may want to try changing the Ethernet settings in the vmware install from Bridged to NAT. If that does not work, let me know and I'll look into this a bit more (it would be great in that case to see more details about your installation and networking configurations)
