New Case Alerts

Hi All,

I would like to know if it is possible to have an email alert sent to a user when a case has been assigned to them? I know you can elect for an alert to be sent if a new record is assigned to a user, but it is my understanding this is separate to a case, is that correct? Besides which, I have assigned accounts to users and they have not been getting alert emails....???

Anna,

A few items that need to be configured in order for your users to receive email notifications when records are assigned to them:
1) Admin | Email Settings - Be sure to enable the "Notifications on?" checkbox.
2) Admin | Email Settings - Have your Mail Transfer Agent selected and configured for your environment. This will allow the Sugar system to send system-generated emails in the first place.
3) On a per user basis, under My Account - Be sure to enable the "Notify on Assignment" checkbox.

If all of these things are in place for your users, then emails should be sent to the users from the system when other people assign records to them of any type, Cases included.

Note that assigning a record to yourself will NOT generate an email notification. Only assigning a record to ANOTHER user will generate an email notification.
