New to CRM

Hi,
Ours is a small company and we are taking some baby steps to understand what a CRM is and how it works.

Basically we are trying to understand the generic workflow of CRMs and how it can be applied by using SugarCRM. I tried googling a lot getting only some spammy results.

Can someone point me to a place which clearly explains what a CRM is, how the different workflows can be fitted into our Sales/Marketing strategies etc.,?

There are several topics related to CRM - some elementary definitions, some best practices, and other podcasts to get your mind going on how you can use it as a tool for your business.
