    Default New Installation - Content appears unformatted

    I have just finished my first installation of SugarCRM

    Unfortunately, when I log in, the content all runs down the left had side with little to no formatting. I assume it is a style sheet issue of some kind but would apprecaite some advice on how to correct it.

    I've uninstalled and installed 5.5.4 a few times - and messed with permissions. Finally tried installing 6.0.0 and messed with permissions some more.

    I read just about every post on this forum on permission changes, Chmod changes, config file changes. Every post seems to have some slightly different advice.

    But I'm here to tell you I finally got the page displaying correctly. It is possible - although I am nervous that some other problem might crop up soon - or all those permissions changes will have some kind of negative effect in the long run.

    If you're having the same problems - after changing the folder permissions (for me using Hostgator that means 777 and 666) - go to Cache - themes - and make sure the folders under that have changed permissions also. Mine didn't, despite having changed the container folder. After going in and makeing sure EVERY folder in this folder was 777 and every file 666 I finally got the page displaying correctly.

    So if you've tried everything else, try this next.

    And do like I do - shake your fist impotently in the air at every developer who can write intricate code but cannot seem to communicate in words and sentences!

    Thanks for the post quornroast. I too had the same problem and I am glad I came across your post early in troubleshooting. It undoubtedly saved me a ton of time.
