A newbie asks: How much do I need to know about LAMP to use Sugar CRM?

I recently created a file using the Open Source version of Sugar CRM. I am not a technology guy and am cowed by all of the technology questions I'm being asked (e.g., what versions of Apache or MySQL are being run on my server). I'm familiar with SaaS, where I am not required to know what's "under the hood." I was able to import records (from Goldmine 6.7), but I hesitate to go any further if I'm getting in over my head. If the answers to these basic questions (see below) are all I really need to know, then I'd appreciate help on where to find them. Otherwise, I'll have to find another shared app (maybe Salesforce?). Thank you.

Operating System -- Windows XP
PHP Version -- don't know
Database -- MySQL (that's what I selected when I installed the software)
Web Server -- Apache (same thing: I checked the box when I installed, but I have no idea what this does)

Hi,

following points may be helpful to you.

1. for finding the version of SugarCRM, login in the system with any account and check the about page of sugarCRM. Where its clearly mention a version of sugarCRM.

2. For finding PHP version go on the folder of PHP which is in the directory of SUGARCRM (may be Program Files/Sugarcrm-[version]/php/) and run a file PHP.EXE -v

3. For checking of MYSQL & Apache login in your phpmyadmin page (localhost/phpmyadmin) in any explorer. Where there mention a versions both of them, otherwise follow the point - 4

4. Go on the MYSQL or APACHE folder of sugarcrm ( may be Program Files/Sugarcrm-[version]/MySQL or /Apache) and write mysql -e status for MYSQL and httpd -v for APACHE
