    Default Newbie import question

Hello all! I am very new to SugarCRM. I'm using pro 6.0. I am trying to import some records from GoldMine 6.7 and am running into an issue. Goldmine exports the records entire name "First Name Last Name" as one field. When I am doing an import into Sugar, there's a bullet point saying I should map that to "Full Name" but I don't seem to have "Full Name" as an option in the dropdown menu. Is there a way for me to add Full Name? Otherwise, none of my contacts will have first names . . .

Many, many thanks in advance for your help!

You could use tools to divide one column of the csv file into two columns before importing the new file into sugar.
I.E. MS Excel (at least version 2010) has the opportunity to do this with a tool called "text convertion assistent" (or similar, I've translated the german label in my installation). Here you have options to set how to separate the contents of that field. Please have a look into the help function.

Thanks for the response! Much appreciated. Where I'm confused is that Sugar seems to suggest there is a specific field called "full name" and if I choose it when I map, it will solve my first name/last name issues. Any thoughts on where/how I find this field?

    Thanks!

Now I have access to my sugar installation ... I did a test import with a csv containing a column '<firstname> <lastname>'. When I map this column to "Name" instead of using "First Name" or "Last name" (see screenshot) it is split into firstname = <content of firstname> and lastname = <content of lastname>. That should exactly what you need ...

You don't have to map "Last Name" even if it is marked as mandatory if you use "Name"!

Sugar takes the first blank in the name as separator, so <firstname> <second firstname> <lastname> will be separated into firstname = <firstname> and lastname = <second firstname> <lastname>.

    Test csv file:
    PHP Code:
    Full-Name
    Imported
    -by Sugar
    Imported by Sugar
See the results in the screen shots.

Thank you *so* much. I'm having to rush our process due to a GoldMine crash and really appreciate the replies over the weekend! Much gratitude!
