Default Newbie question about logging into database

I've installed the latest stack on OS X, successfully logged in, created a new user, & logged in as that user from another machine on my LAN. I would now like to access my database from outside the office. I have complete administrative access to the router and all computers.

Can someone give me the dummy version of what to do next?

    Cheers

    Hi!

how are you going to make the access? throw vPN?
if yes, i guess you're going to get ian inside IP form the network.
How are you going to acess the database?

I use phpmyadim it usually come's installed with fastsatck sugar.
    If you go to sugarroot/apache2/conf/httpd.conf

the last lines define the IP's numbers allowed to access phpmyadmin
after you put you ip on this file go to http://localhost/phpmyadmin
