    Default Newbie questions about Module Builder

    Hi all,

    I've installed Sugar 5.0.0g and I'm investigating how I can customize some fields. I've first work with module builder to understand how this works, really impressive, but I've some questions.

    I'm using datetime fields but not found how to customize the way the fields can be entered. By default there is only a date picker (and a simple "date" type), how to get a date + time picker in panels. In the same way, look like the duration tasks field, I've seen it's an interger type, but the task panel enable to enter the value with hour/min logic.

    PerhapsI'm stupid, perhaps it's simply a module builder limitation.

    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi didier

    Unfortunately the Module Builder does not display the DateTime neither DateTimeCombo. I believe it will be solved soon.
    You can:
    1. create the field as Date in the Module Builder;
    2. publish the installer;
    3. Unzip it, edit the vardefs of the module and change its type to DateTime or DateTimeCombo;
    4. Zip again and install it.

    Cheers

    Thanks for this quick reply.

    So I've to manually adapt the module, is there any useful documentation on how to do this?

    The drawback is that we cannot use anymore the module builder (but this is not the main sugarCRM activity!). But this help me, first working simply with the module builder to build my models (and/or adapt existing modules), finalize the work adapting manually the module and use it!

    I've also seen a "module builder" module (http://www.sugarforge.org/projects/modulebuilder/) can this help? or is this a completely other scope.

    Hi Didier

    The built in Module Builder is the best one.
    Perhaps there is a documentation but I don´t know.

    Newbie questions again!

    Still playing with module builder, I've not found a solution to add "related" fields to Users, so unable to add fields like "assigned to". But such fields exists in "templates" modules like issue template (assigned_to) and even basic template (created by ...), fields which can be used in the layout (and so mimic what I expect!).

    I've tried to Clone such field with no success, but as it seems those fields are manageable by the module builder, I'm searching for a simple way to have this.

    Will be very useful also to have some "task" template module where event base objects will appear in the calendar!

    Think I will have to deeply understand sugarCRM API and php code ... but not my initial scope, perhaps too optimistic investigating sugarCRM module builder tool
