    Default Newbie with some questions

    Hi everybody,

I am totally new so forgive me if these questions are misplaced.
I have been asked to get a CRM for the company (we never worked with one, but you always have a first time ).
    We have a server with:

    Windows 2003
    SQL server 2003
    4 GB RAM
    700 GB HD

We need a kind of sftware were our comercials/salespersons can register there visits of our clients, their sales, etc.... nothing more (later one we will use the option to get analises of all the products, etc,... which I know CRM can do. but for now it is only the stuff for the salespersons)

    Here are my questions:

    1) Which version should I get?
    2) Is it difficult to install in the server?
    3) Can it be used using Sql server 2003?
    4) do we need to install something extra in our server?

    ANy help is welcome!!! THX!

    Johny

    Update:

i saw tht ther are two versions for windows. Does the one with MSSQL overwrite my SQL 2003 server? If so, I rather install the MSSQL version, As we use the SQL 2003 Server for other programs.... Any suggestions

    Hi John

    PHP Code:
    1Which version should I get
The most stable version is the 5.1.0c

    PHP Code:
2Is it difficult to install in the server
I guess not. I suggest you to install the Zend Core. The Zend Core install automatically the php and apache or install the php and configure it to work under IIS.

    PHP Code:
3Can it be used using Sql server 2003
    No, just SQL Server 2005

    PHP Code:
    4) do we need to install something extra in our server
Perhaps IMAP if you will use emails.

    Kind regards

Thx andopes and genius786 for answering my questions.

We have installed finally the Linux version in another server and it is up and running.

Now i am trying out the program and It seems a very cool program. Still, I wonder how can we introduce our products and then that the salespersons can add every sale to their list so we can finally get the salesgrafix of them.
I am getting the feeling that that can only be done with the superior versions (read: payversions), is that so?

    many thx,

    Jony

You can use the Opportunities module to track your sales and in turn, display sales graphs with data.

The Community Edition does not include a Products component, but check out www.sugarexchange.com for potential add-ons that may solve that problem for you. Some are free, some are paid for. If none are available, you'd have to customize your system to handle it or purchase a subscription for a Professional or Enterprise version of Sugar which does include a Products component.

Just as a side note (and minor point of clarification), there is no linux version per se. The product can be installed on just about any OS that is capable of running a web server with support for PHP. The product differences lie in the feature set, with Enterprise being the richest, and database platform support.
