Newbiew in SUGARCRM....Wants Help

Hi,
I m newbiew in SUGARCRM(5.1) please help me i m very thankful to your reply. I want to change the attribute of custom add field name PRODLINEID_C in CASE module (like size, length, and some other). Also Try to add some custom code for making a button in the front of the custom add field (PRODLINEID_C).

Little bit i m successful, if i perform a changed in custom/modules/custom/metadata/editviewdefs.php but when i again try to add some fields through STUDIO it again become on standard format (change in size, length) as before and my adding code is erase from the said file. Kindly help ... me ...
