Not able to edit custom field

Hi. I am new to sugar and have read the admin guide. i am having a problem with something i think should be very simple. I created a custom field for the contacts module. When I search contacts and view the full form the filed is there. When i try to edit the details after pushing the edit button. The custom filed is no longer visible for me to update. I would appreciate any help.

In Studio, you need to add the new field to both the Edit View and the Detail View. You might also find you need to clear the custom field cache.
