Default Not sure what this is called...

    Hello all,

I've used SugarCRM every so often to test and play around with. Now, I'm going to deploy.

Running version 5.0e on a shared host. Installation went fine.

I'm wondering if it is possible or what it is called....

When looking at an Account, I'd like to have a "tab" next to/under the Edit, Duplicate, Delete, Find Dup, View Change Log where I can add about 50 custom fields.

I'd prefer not to add them right on the Account page so as not to clutter the page with too much info. But I do need to store the 50 fields worth of info. Ideally, having the extra "tab" would make it more user friendly.

Is this possible? What is this called? Can someone point me in the right direction?

    Considering the number of fields.

I would suggest creating a new module with this information and linking to the Accounts module. Similar to how the contacts or others are linked via a subpanel.

Note there are issues with the relationships in 5.0 so be careful! 5.1 is supposed to fully support the relationship building with custom modules via the studio.

Editing and adding buttons is much more difficult than in the past so I would stick to creating a new module with all those fields. I thik the default template (if I remember right) has a person which will give you a built in link. You could also use the case template an get the links built in that module.

If you want some help let us know. I've gotten pretty good at customizing with my recent deployment.

    Thanks Paris

    Hi,
the solution that Paris proposed is the cleanest, ie to set up a relationship between accounts and a custom module that stores your 50 custom fields.
However, what you asked can be realized in another way.
You could add your 50 custom fields to Accounts module via Studio, then you could add customcode to build a sort of expandable/collapsable area where show/hide them.
Check this thread on the topic.
Also you could find Enhanced Studio useful for this.
