Notes and Attachments

Hi,
When I add an attachment (doc/pdf) etc as a note to an opportunity where on the server is it stored? I am presuming a copy is stored as a file on the server and a link to it is stored on the DB. is this correct? and if so where can I find it?

yes. you are right. Uploaded documents/files will be stored in cache/upload folder. The id of the notes is the name of the uploaded file in cache/upload folder.

I'm moving a SugarCRM instance from 4.5 to 5.5. Were the 4.5 attachments stored in the same place as 5.5 attachments are now stored?

Yes, the folder to stored attachment is the same accros the versions.
The default folder is cache/upload.
The file name is exactly the id of related Note or Document record.
