    Default Notification email when adding new users

    Good Afternnon,

    I have recently upgraded from 2.5.0c to 4.2.1e. When assigning tasks to users, an email is sent to the user. However, when I create a new user: an email is not sent to the user. Under Admin/Email Settings: "Send notifications by default for new users?" is checked.

    Two questions:

    Is there anyone who's using 4.2.1e and has this functionality working?

    If so, any suggestions for me?

    System Details
    Operating system type and version: Suse Linux 9.3
    Sugar Suite version: 4.2.1e
    Webserver type and version: Apache 2.0.53-9.10
    PHP version: 4.3.10-14.23
    MySQL server version: 4.1.10a-3.4

    Ok... I haven't got any feedback. Just to make sure that I am stating my issue clearly:

    Has anyone attempted to use this functionality, and got stuck in the same situation as me?

    I'm in the same situation with version 4.5.1 (build 1197). I've seen several threads on enabling notifications in Admin:Config and then enabling notifications per user but it doesn't seem to fix the problem for me.

    Andy,

    Thanks for the quick response! Naturally, as soon as I posted I was stuck, I figured out the problem. I was using the leadCapture example to create new leads but wasn't yet assigning a user. So I was actually missing two things in the end: 1) attach an appropriate assigned_user_id to the new lead, and 2) make sure the assigned user is different than the lead capture user. I hadn't initially clued in that a notification wouldn't be sent if the lead was created and assigned to the same user.

    Yup, nthalon, notification only occurs on a change of assigned user.

    keving, do you still have an issue, given this?

    Let me clarify the meaning of the "Send notifications by default for new users?" check box. When it is checked, all the new users created will have the "Notify on Assignment" checked in My Account. This is a convenient way for the admin user.

    It doesn't mean that Sugar will send an e-mail to the newly create users. The verbiage is misleading. I already opened a bug, bug 11482, to modify the wording.
