Old email address record remains in SQL DB

Hello,

I would like to know if when an email address is updated under the contact module, why the old address/record still remain in the email_addresses and email_addr_bean_rel table. Should old data be removed?

Hi Fred

SugarCRM store that information into database due backup purpose.
You may see the deleted field is set to 1 for the old emails, this tells SugarCRM this record is deleted.

I am just wondering!!
What is the purpose of this? Why not just flush the data when it becomes obsolete?
Is there a function under administration right that would help do this? Or manually?

Hi Fred

There is a scheduled task inactive by default into Admin -> Schedulers page (Prune Database on 1st of Month).
You may active that one and configure the cron.
It will erase at the 1st of Month all records marked as deleted.
Do it at your risk!

No, this feature works properly.
But if you accidentally mark as deleted some records and this script is invoked these records will be lost forever unless you have a backup.
