Omtting Contacts From E-mail query list

Is there a way to pull all contacts and leads, but exclude some that are specific to a certain campaign or use. Ex: I frequently send out mass e-mails, but would like to exclude contacts and leads that are onlly used for specific events. There is a seperate list generated for them, but for now I have been sorting and looking for duplicates in Excel, which is a very cumbersome process.

There are "negative" target lists for campaign. Whoever is on it won't get anything even though he is on another list. Create a target list and and change the type to "suppression"

Could you suggest a way to filter an email campaign or Target list as follows:

Contacts with email addresses

Contacts that meet the following criteria

Industry: (drop down} selected industries
Mining
Heavy Construction
Quarry

Accounts and Contacts removed that we don't want to get the email

Look up by Account name or Contact name and remove from Target list

maybe search and have remove from Target list option

Build some subscription lists using Campaign>Newsletter and add your contacts to the subscription lists (Contact>Manage Subscriptions) ... this is by some distance the easiest way to segment customers

I do see the word account here - Sugar doesn't support accounts on target lists yet, this will come as standard from version 5.5 (but there are patches for that, just PM me).

Second issue here: usually contacts don't carry an industry attribute. So you need a tool that allows you to query accounts with particular industries and then take the related contacts as members for you target list.

I order to do that install enhanced search (it's free) and Power Prospecting. With enhanced search you can do subqueries (all contacts which belong to accounts of these industries and who are MDs). Once you have your list on the screen use the additional entry in the mass update panel (put there by power prospecting) and add your contacts to your target list.

Suppression lists will take care of people who shouldn't get anything this time, people with the opted out check mark will never get anything no matter how often you put them on any list.
