Default Open Source 5.0 Beta versus 4.5.1

I'm very new to SugarCRM (and just posted a specific question about connecting multiple research requests to one requester).

I've installed 4.5.1e and it seems to be working just fine. I have a project I want to get running as quickly as possible.

5.0 Beta is attractive because it's new and would have the best features. However, it's somewhat scary using new software when I want to get this running quickly. Brand new beta software tends to have some bugs. Also, I assume that at this point in time, there would be fewer people in the forums using the beta version than using a version that has been around for awhile.

What are your opinions about using 5.0 Beta versus 4.5.1?

    Thanks!

Hi MichaelRLevy, a reminder that 5.0 beta 1 is not intended for production use and is not supported.

There will be at least another beta release prior to GA which is still several weeks away.

I'd say you better wait for 5.0 stable and not use 5.0 beta for production environment. There may be substantial changes between beta and stable versions. And Sugar does not support upgrading beta versions to other versions.

If you want to start using Sugar immediately, you're better off with 4.5.1 and upgrade to 5.0 stable once it is released.

Andy, you were faster than me! I was writing a reply while you posted and did't notice your reply, sorry.
