Opportunities - filtering closed ones

Has the ability to filter-out closed opportunities been added to the latest version?
in reviweing the forum, I see there has been a lot of requests for this ...
there is even a reply that it will be included in the core product, but I do not see it implemented yet..

I am very much in need of this capability as it has become unmanageable to show all and the solutions posted seem to be for older versions -

It is always posible that it is so obvious that I may be missing the feature in the product...

For historical purposes, I would not like to delete old opportunities, but if that is what is recommended, I shall comply...

any help would be most appreciated?
