    Default Opportunities without accounts

    Hi,

having used other CRM in the past, I have always worked that an account is an organisation you do business with. Therefore, unless it's relating to an existing account - a new opportunity should not have an account.

Trouble is - Sugar doesn't let us create an opportunity or convert a lead without either selecting an existing account or creating a new one!

Is there a solution to this?

    Thanks

yes, make account field not required or just throw it out of form.

other way is just make some account that u can tie all your stuff to it, and not throw the field out completely.

look on forum how to make the field not required in editview.php file

In SugarCRM an account is not necessarily someone you already do business with. There is a field in accounts called Type. you can have an account for example that is a prospect, and another that is a customer.

Leads are generally unqualified potential customers. They are converted when they become a qualified potential customer.

Kind of like when the police have a lead which turns into a suspect. Doesn’t mean they have their man just like when you convert a lead into an account it does not mean you made the sale.

Sugar is designed to always have an opportunity associated with an account (or contact) Opportunities are not designed to stand alone.

Take a look at the type field in account. you can use it to separate potential customers from customers in the system.
