"Opportunity amount" refusing to not be Required.

New boy here, reasonably technical but not really a coder.

Using a new, clean install of Sugar, I'm trying to make what would seem to be a simple change to the 'Opportunity' module - I want neither Expected Close Date nor Opportunity Amount to be required fields.

So I go into Studio > Opportunities Fields and untick the relevant boxes.

As expected, Expected Close Date is no longer required.

But Opportunity amount stays stubbornly required, despite the setting of the tick box. I've tried a quick erpair in Admin, but to no avail.

What am I missing/

Try to set require => false on opportunities vardefs.php for this fields.
Also check on editviewdefs.php if there is some required directive for this field, if there is then remove it.

Being new to the Sugar scene, if your solution does work (I'll check in the morning) should I be filing this as a bug somewhere?
