Outbound e-mail problem

Hi all,

I hope I'm posting in the right forum, if not please let me know.

I have a problem with a fresh installation of SugarCRM 5.5.1RC3.
It has been installed on a hosting domain with the following characteristics:

PHP: 5.3.1
Mysql: 5.0.51a-24+lenny2-log
Apache: N/A

The installation process ran fine.

Then I've configured an outbound e-mail account in Admin > Email settings.
It is configured as follow:

- From Name: bv@xxxx.be
- From Address: bv@xxxx.be
- SMTP Mail Server: mailout.one.com
- SMTP Port: 25
- Enable SMTP over SSL: None

The following are the settings that the hosting company gave me:

.... if you require an SMTP server for a PHP script, you have to use mailout.one.com.
Here are the required settings:
SMTP host: mailout.one.com
Port: 25
SMTP Username: email@domainname.com [ It has to be an existing email address ]
SMTP Password: not required
Authentication: Disabled

When this is configured like this and I give a try with the "Send Test Mail" button, SugarCRM outputs the following logs:

Mon Mar 15 08:32:22 2010 [21301][1][FATAL] SMTP -> ERROR:AUTH not accepted from server. Code: 503 Reply: 503 5.5.1 Error: authentication not enabled

Mon Mar 15 08:32:22 2010 [21301][1][FATAL] SugarPHPMailer encountered an error: SMTP Error: Could not authenticate.

Mon Mar 15 08:32:22 2010 [21301][1][FATAL] SugarPHPMailer encountered an error: SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.

Mon Mar 15 08:32:22 2010 [21301][1][FATAL] SugarPHPMailer encountered an error: An outbound mail server is not configured for outoing email for the mail account that you are using. Please select or add an outbound mail server for the mail account.

And if I try anyway to set the authentication up and give it a try with the "Send Test Mail" button, then SugarCRM outputs the following log:

Does anyone see where the mistake is and could give me some clues on how to solve this ?

I just finished fighting the same issue with 5.5.1

What I discovered is that if I took the + out of mail server log in it works fine.

I had user+mailserver.com which is what I always use but changed it to

user@mailserver.com ... sugar is now sending mail fine.

SMTP error
Sugar 5.5.1
I always use localhost for mail server name, since it's on the same server.


With authentication on or off, error was the same.
