Thread: outbound email doesn't work

    Default outbound email doesn't work

    hi all,

    I can't get sugar to send email (inbound IMAP works fine)
    I am using a SMT server from a hosting provider (1and1) and I am certain that the settings in the Admin -> Email Setting are correct. If I send a test mail using the corresponding button on the settings page I don't get an error but I never receive the email.
    However if I try to send an email from the sugarCRM email client I get the following error message:

    Error emailing:An outbound mail server is not configured for outoing email for the mail account that you are using. Please select or add an outbound mail server for the mail account.

    The account data has been saved because the outbound SMT server as available to choose if I open the email settings (settings button within the email client)

    Can someone please help? I can't really find a post that describes this problem. I guess I am just making a stupid mistake somewhere.

    so i found this in the log files:
    Code:
    Mon May 17 03:48:51 2010 [12935][1][FATAL] SMTP -> ERROR: Failed to connect to server. Code: 111 Reply: Connection refused 
    Mon May 17 03:48:51 2010 [12935][1][FATAL] SugarPHPMailer encountered an error: SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.
    Mon May 17 03:48:51 2010 [12935][1][FATAL] SugarPHPMailer encountered an error: An outbound mail server is not configured for outoing email for the mail account that you are using. Please select or add an outbound mail server for the mail account.
    The settings are correct. I tried port 25 and port 587 with TLS on and off respectively. The username and password and host name are 100% correct. It's really weird. Anyone an idea what that could be?

    There is an Email Settings in Admin.
    You play around w/ it.

    Hi Kurt,

    thanks for your response. I am not sure if i understand your advice correctly. I did configure the SMT server in the "Email Settings" section of the Admin page.
    Is there another place I can check for settings?

    anyone any idea?? I have absolutely no clue what the problem could be ... I tried multiple SMTP servers (1und1, web.de GMail, GMX) but nothing works. It's always the same error.
    Is there a possibility to turn logging level to verbose mode so I can trace down at what point the problem really happens.

    I have the similar problems. Very dissaointed with SugarCRM email functionality it's broken in so many ways and no one seems to want to solve it...

    Yeah I am surprised that not more folks that have trouble with this are responding. Maybe 5.5.2 is too new so I guess we just have to wait it out ... :-(

    I am also struggling with this.

    As I'm on GoDaddy, I know there's no hope for IMAP incoming emails, but I see no reason SMTP outbound shouldn't work.

    Several different SMTP services were tried, including Gmail (and the 'default' settings) SSL / TLS / unsecured, all produce the same errors:

    I'm highly suspicious of the GoDaddy PHP settings but am unsure where to begin.

    On a whim, I installed this same version on my local computer (Mac OSX) and the Gmail SMTP outbound works, using the TLS settings at least...
