    Default Outbound Email Problem......

    Hi

    My configuration is

    Operating system type and version WindowsXP
    Sugar Suite version 5.4.1e
    Webserver/PHP/MySQL WAMP5


    My problem--- I am not able to send emails from my local machine using SMTP. But if I host an instance in a hosting server, siteground, the emails are going.


    Please help me out; this is urgent.

    What are your email settings set to when you try to send via your local smtp server?

    I am also having an issue, I have set my SMTP server to our internal exchange box but I dont get any emails at all. Looking through the SMTP logs there isnt even a connection attempt. I have validated the settings using telnet from the one server to the other and it works fine (and logs fine)

    My settings are:

    Mail Transfer Agent: SMTP
    SMTP Server: es-sbs01.esurge.local (which is a valid local DNS name)
    SMTP Port: 25
    Use Athentication, I have this checked with a valid domain user. I have tried without as well.

    I cant seem to find any logging wtihin sugar itself, some kind of debug log would be very usefull.

    Did you double check your actual SugarCRM account? There are e-mail settings there as well. I think the default is to have your acct use sendmail, so you may want to check the outbound e-mail settings in the properties of your SugarCRM user account. Set your global SMTP properties to not use authentication because your Exchange server might not like it.

    Ah ha, nice one yep that works now

    Kind of wondering why there is the need for individual mail settings per user? I can imagine there would be a need on a larger scale by group but not per user? :s

    I'm not sure why the global properties of the smtp settings are not applied to all users. Kind of a pain. I only knew what your problem was because I ran into the same thing.
