Have set up email accounts within Sugar 5.0.0.c using same setup info (POP3 / userID / password etc.) as did for Outlook + Thunderbird which has worked AOK for staff.
However, Sugar's email set-up is causing problems. If we set up as POP3 using Port 110 without SSL (same as our Outlook + Thunderbird mail client) get error message "SECURITY PROBLEM: insecure server advertised AUTH=PLAIN Please check your settings and try again." . If I click on SSL and try this same effect. Only if I try to save the settings (which will not and will tell me setting are not correct- despite the exact same settings used for Outlook / Thunderbird) and then click on SSL will it save. Then clicking test will show that incoming is working.
However, the other half of the battle is to get outgoing working. Emails will not send - get "Error emailing:SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host. " We have used the same SMTP / login / password / request authentication as for same account on other working clients (Outlook / Thunderbird) so don't understand what is going on here. Have spent many hours searching for a reason why this is so and why others have had same problem.
guys and gals - setting up email accounts within SugarCRM should be easy and not a pain - especially when paying monthly user fees. Have read quite a number of strings on problems of setup in Sugar going back to 2005 so had hoped that this would be quick and simple - hardly so in our case.
Therefore, any help that you may offer would be greatly appreciated.![]()
