Outlook Plug-In help and understanding

We've had the outlook plug-in since day 1 from our new installation of Sugar Pro 6.1.2 in June, and only used the plug in to sync e-mails to sugar.

One person wants to have the Sugar contacts in his Outlook.

So i tested the Contact Sync in outlook/sugar before implementing it. What I did is I went to my Plug-in options, under the tab Contact. Created a new folder in my contacts for Sugar, then checked all 4 questions, then set it to Sugar version prevails.

Went in my Sugar, selected 100 contacts, did mass correction on the auto-sync check box.

Went back to Outlook and did a Sync of contacts.

Outlook got all the 100 contacts alright in the new outlook folder. Super it works.

10 minutes after a huge set-back I discovered. Reading the Sugar feed, Sugar tells me I have created a new contact. That is repeated 27 times. So the feed tells me I have created 27 new contacts, of which they are not new.

I check one of those "newly created" contacts and find out it's date of creation is still the original one (june 7th) all good there. But 2 things have changed which are really not good. Somehow, without asking Sugar or Outlook assigned those contacts to me and to my private team. So now I have to go through those 27 and reassign them correctly.

I am now afraid and apprehensive of using the Sync contacts from Sugar to Outlook. We have 1736 contacts and it would be catastrophic if Sugar reassigned all of them or part of them.

Tried searching the net for some info/user guide on that outlook plug-in and the info available is very thin. Anyone know an in depth webinar or PDF that's explain the use and tweeks of the plug-in (besides the non-helpfull one that comes within Sugar)

So is there something I am doing wrong ? Anyone ever experienced the same ? Is there something I should do to prevent Sugar modifying contacts on it's own ?

My boss really wants me to implement this, but I am to afraid to corrupt our database.
