    Default Path to uploaded attachments

    SUGAR CE 5.2f

    Hey all,

I had a problem with a module and loaded a backup. Everythings fine now except of one thing: the attached files in a note are not available any more. Now i want to put them onto the server manually. But where I have to put the files and how do I name them?

    Thanks in advance.

Attachments would normally be found in <sugar root>/cache/uploads

Did you do something that folder at some point? If so, restoring it to its prior state should once again give you access to the files.

    THANKS A LOT

It is easier as I thought. But I never had the idea to put it into "cache". It is normaly used for temporarily datas.

    Oh, confusing questions

You should create an own directory for these docs and configure it in config.php.
It's a real joke to use the cache directory as document storage...

Thumbs up Re: Path to uploaded attachments

Thank for the info, I was in the same situation I had to restore from a backup, I did a fresh install and resotred the database, I managed to recover all custom fields but the uploaded files in the Document section gives invalid reference error.I have searched for PDF files in the sugarcrm folder could not find the file but realised that the files are stored in the cache\upload(thanks to your post!) without extension and with a strange reference number. Copied the files over to the new install, Now Document section WORKS BEAUTIFULLY!!!

OK, I changed the folder and gave write access to Sugar CE. What else I have to change to let it work proper? It seems that notes can't be assigned to an user anymore.

Is there any way to make Sugar keep attachments in the database ?

I have two SugarCRM installations on MySQL synchronised and all works beautifully and automatically. I can change an record in either one and the other is instantly updated. Except for attachments which are kept outside of the database.

I wonder if I could configure MySQL to see a directory as virtual 'table' as part of the DB ? Then MySQL could sync the directories. Hmm.

Not without some custom programming. Another approach would be to modify the code to save the file as a BLOB in a custom table when it is uploaded.

Chances are that you'd have to change some core code to get this to work, so there is an inherit danger involved that may impact your ability to upgrade smoothly in the future too.

You may try to write sync script for that.
It is not good idea to store files in the database.
