Permissions gone crazy since install

Hi,

I have been trying to upgrade our sugarcrm ce from 5.2.0 to the newest version with catastrophic results. The first time I managed to get as far as upgrading it to 5.5.0 but for some reason the permissions in the sugar install directory were all wrong. For example, I have to change the permissions on the themes folder so that the css files could be accessed before the pages displayed correctly but I was unable to install the update to 6.1.1, the upgrade wizard would display that prefilght check were ok but there was no next button.

Eventually I had to perform a clean install of 6.2.2 (again I had to change the permissions for the css files to be accessible) and then manually move the data from the old sugar datadase to the new one table by table.

Now I am trying to install the enhanced search module but it tells me that the module scanner has stopped it. I have tried disabling the module scanner and I have tried adding the zip to te valid extentions array but with no joy.

Has anyone else had any problems like this and what can I do to resolve it? I really need the enhanced search to work. I have contacted the author but haven't as yet had a response

Hi Tracey

Are you playing sugar into a shared server?
Issues like that happens on shared server.
If you have full access to a server you may not face such issues.
Make sure the sugarcrm folder recursively belongs to user and group under which apache is running.

Thanks for the reply. The server is hosted by Hostgator so, yes, it's shared, if thats what you meant?

Is there a way that I can change the scanner to be able to install the enhanced search?

Yes, there is what I had asked.
You should need to ask the host provider to fix the owner of sugarcrm folder recursively.
