Default Persistant "loading" message and contact subpannel problem

I created my first package (with a single module) to customize SugarCRM. When I deployed the package, I got an error that looked something like this - "error reading data". I made a change to the package and re-deployed and caused and all my user screens to go blank.

I removed a relationship, redeployed, and the screens all came back. I then added the relationship back (to contacts), redeployed, and the screens stayed. So far, so good.

The problem is when you go to the Contacts subpanel and click "Other" tab, it is blank - I expected to see Campaigns and the new module Subscription. When I click around the tabs, it behave strangely by not showing the correct panel.

    Any suggestion on:

    1) how to fix this problem.

    2) why the error on deployment

    3) a local guru to figure this out (Minneapolis, MN)

    Thanks,

What version of Sugar? EDIT: Oops missed your version. Should work if you go to Configure Group Tabs.

My experience is that the subpanel tabs are supposed to follow the definitions in Configure Group Tabs, but that in 5.2.0f it didn't work right for custom modules in my testing. But in my recent 5.5.1 testing it worked great.

I don't use Campaigns much, but I would expect it would be under the Marketing tab, not the Other tab. I would expect your custom module to appear under Other tab. In 5.5, if you move it using Configure Group Tabs, it should show up properly under the tab you moved it to. But in 5.2, it will probably stay in the Other tab.

Open Configure Group Tabs and see if your module appears at all. Move it around and see what happens. See what tab the Campaigns module is in.

    Phil:

This problem is in the subpanels. The tab are working correctly and so is the group tabs.

    Thanks,

    Hi Ed,

Then I'm not following the problem. You said:

From this explanation, I get that some subpanels are not showing up within certain tabs. But you say the tabs are working correctly.

OK, I decided to look at the Campaigns relationships. Unless you've extended it, Campaigns has a One to Many relationship with Contacts. Therefore, the Contacts module will have a single relate field to Campaigns and there will be no Campaigns subpanel under Contacts. Under Campaigns there will be a subpanel listing all the Contacts associated with a Campaign. So it would make sense that there is no Campaigns subpanel under Contacts. If you defined a similar One to Many relationship of Subscriptions to Contacts, then it will behave the same way.

If you want subpanels on both sides, you need a Many to Many relationship.

I'm not that familiar with the Campaigns module, but I'm guessing that it is designed so that a Contact is participating in a single Campaign at any one time. When that Campaign ends, a Contact can be assigned to a new Campaign. I would have expected it to be a Many to Many Relationship, but that's not what it shows.

You can look at the relationships you have defined through Admin > Studio > Contacts > Relationships.

Is that closer to your problem?

    Phil
