PHP Issues

I had contacted our webmaster and asked him to set up the sugarsuite CRM open source for our sales staff which at the moment consist of 3 with the hope to have more.

Anyway, our webmaster contacted me with the following statement,

"I have looked at the sugar suite and it doesn't support the newest version of PHP4 for some reason yet. I tried installing it and it wouldn't let me. Sugarcrm does allow you to "rent" an installation so you can just purchase usage for three or four people and see how it works for you. If it is something that is really productive for you, we could look at setting up an older PHP4 server and running it on that."

I do not have any experience in setting this up or in setting up websites. I do not have any idea on operating system or any other info. Is there a thread that I can direct him to so that he can get this installed.

I suggest your webmaster to read Sugar_OpenSource_Release_Notes_4.2.1b.pdf which contains list of the supported PHP and MySQL versions (compatibility matrix), it can be found here, http://www.sugarforge.org/frs/?group_id=6

There you'll also find Sugar_Open_Source_Install_Upgrade_Guide_v4.2.pdf which contains installation instructions. And if you have questions after that, please post here in the forums.

4.3.10 - 4.3.11
4.4.1 - 4.4.2
5.0.1 – 5.0.4
5.1.0, 5.1.1, 5.1.2
