Placing projects and tasks to new accounts

Hello All,

I'm really new to the SugarCRM software and seem to be running into a problem that many others have in the past. What I'm attempting to do is create a couple of project templates with assigned tasks that can be duplicated or copied into our new accounts. So basically when I get a new customer I can quickly assign project A, with tasks 1,2,3, project B with tasks 1,2,3, etc. etc.

I have set up a project with the assigned tasks, but when I go to duplicate the project the tasks don't duplicate as well and I can't assign the project to any new account.

I would REALLY love to get some help on this issue. It would make my life much more enjoyable.

Unfortunately the duplicate function is a core function and works in all modules in the same way: just creates a new main record and doesn't work anything with any of related records.
I guess that additional customization in EditView.php and Save.php files are needed to solve your problem (files in Projects module).

Thank you very much for responding to my post!!! So in there pretty much nothing that I can do? Is there a patch available or is this something that I can do if I upgrade to the new 5.0 or Pro? Anything else that you would suggest?

Customization is an only think that I can suggest at this moment. Workflow management existed in PRO doesn't solve the problem I guess.

A quick solution is to use the duplicate function for each of the projects task as well. This will save your time a little but still is not comfortable.

I ended up having one of my engineers install the module from Sugarforge

It seems to do the trick. I can copy the project and the tasks copy at the same time, then I just assign them to the new accounts...I think. Actually I don't know how many times I really need to duplicate the "templates" but that will be the next adventure.
