PLEASE help a newbie w/ deleting and updating contacts

Right now I wish that SugarCRM was a heavy box sitting on my desk so that I could throw it through the plate glass window next to me. This would be an extremely satisfying experience.

Anyway, I have been evaluating Salesforce.com and SugarCRM, and let me tell you, Salesforce.com is so much easier to use. So here is my problem. I imported about 6,000 contacts into Sugar, and one of the fields didn't populate. I am guessing it is because the value on my import CSV had a capital letter, and the dropdown field value in Sugar did not. My guess is that this mismatch caused the field value not to be brought into Sugar.

So now I have 6,000+ contact records without critical information in one of the fields. How can I update all these records? It appears that with the mass update capability, I have to check all the radio buttons one page at a time in order to mass update! That's crazy. There has to be an easier way.

As long as I am at it, how would I mass delete them so I can start fresh? Is there an easy way?

Please help me so I keep my sanity here.

Hi MichaelB1969, don't do anything harsh!! There's help on its way. (And thanks for checking us out.)

Beginning in Release 5.0 there's a capability to select records beyond those painted on a single listview. Using a drop-dopwn, you can select 'This Page', 'All', or 'None'.

You can check this out in our Release 5.0 preview site.

Plus, at the end of the import process is a list that you can use for verification purposes, and the possibility to undo the import. Hopefully these can help as well.

Hi, adding on from this users post, can i ask "how do i delete all contacts" ... i can easily import them again, its just i imported them all, then decided to add some information, then imported them all again and they didnt overwrite. Therefore I want to delete them all and I can re-import them. I know there is a merge capability but it's also being rather crap.

There are about 1500 contacts and deleteing them page by page (of 20) is annoying.

Any ideas?

Whats about mySQL GUI tools ?
With SalesForce you MUST use SalesForce DataLoader. In Sugar you can delete them by SQL statements.

But be sure to have understood the table structure and their content.

An excellent help in administrating SugarCRM is the SugarCRM Developer's Manual .
I got it one month after my migration job but it was worth it's money.
