Post pls help clarify cache directory?

    Hello --

I would like clarification on how cache directory used by Sugar.

Based on my expectation of "cache", I see the contents should be transient (ie. temporary).

Example: is it OK to stop apache, execute a "rm -r *" in cache directory and re-start Apache?

OR -- does Sugar store essential data in cache directory, email attachments, sugar documents?

Any details would be great. If I could find this information somewhere in a dev spec -- I wouldn't ask the question.

    Thanks in adv. -GA

The cache is supposed to be transient. But in the Case of SugarCRM This is not true. Documents and attachments are actually stored in the Cache directory. Custom field information is also stored here as well. I would not advise a rm -r as the directory structure must be maintained. Removing things from the cache may break links to the files in the cache by various modules.

Do not arbitrarly delete the cache dir it is not advised at all unless you know what is tied to what. For example /cache/upload/upgrades contains several directories that are refered to in the table upgrade_history. just deleting files in that directory will create all kind of messy errors.

Hope this helps you out a bit.
