Default Is it possible to add custom search fields in 4.2.1 Open Source?

    Hi all,
It's been a while since I have played around with SugarCRM, but I just downloaded & installed the latest 4.2.1 open source version to test for a client. The client is only going to use the Contacts Area & possible the calendar/Schedule Meetings sections, so I have disabled all the modules bar those.

Now, the only additional field I needed to add was a text area named Reference Number, so that they can add multiple reference numbers in the Contacts area.

However, I haven't been able to search at all using a reference number. Is it possible to somehow search on a newly added field in the open source version? If so, could someone please point me at a how-to or provide some details. I have done a fair search on the forums but nothing has turned up.

    Bye for now, Terry

    Hi again,
Never mind, I actually found a post on the forums using Google - the answer is dead simple & is found in this post:

http://www.sugarcrm.com/forums/showt...oto=nextnewest - the relevant part of the post is this:

"Log in as admin -> click on field layout -> check Edit in place.

You will see a pencil and paper on the pages. Navigate to the contacts module. Click on advanced seach. click on the pen and paper icon.

    Start editing!"

    Bye for now, Terry
