Default Possible to associate Contact to multiple Accounts??

Is it possible to associate one Contact to multiple accounts? For example, I have a contact name Joe Smith, he works for two different companies (Accounts) I have in Sugar. Is it possible add an additional Account Name field in his Contact info so I can select two different accounts?

    Thank you,
    Laura

Yes you can, however be very careful!!

In the account screen you can select the contact, and do this in multiple account records.

However, in the contact record they only ever have 1 account they are shown as being associated with.

What happens behind the scenes is that there is an intermediate contact/account table. The account that a contact record becomes associated with will be the oldest account record that they are attached to.

This tripped us up as we wanted to associated engineers with accounts, but still maintain them as employees of our organisation.

In the end we had to customise Sugar and duplicate the 'member of' functionality, and change the contact to account relationship to be many to many, as opposed to one to many.

In brief, the answer is yes, but be careful!!

Can you give any tips as to how you did the customization? I'm on the verge of just creating a cutom module but don't know if there's an easier way. .
