This also works in the OS version that you can download. It does assign a case automatically if the subject line looks exactly like the field in the Email Admin section - So if if it says [Case: %1] then the system will accept [Case: 255] but not [Case:255]. Nonetheless I am almost sure that cases (at least in the OS version) will NOT be created automatically. You have to do this once (directly clicking the respective field in the email list) and then all others email will be assigned automatically.
