Default Probably simple but bewildering custom field problem

    Hi,

I've just started looking at Sugar CRM and I'm mighty impressed, but I can't for the life of me get the custom field layout right. I've edited the main account screen, added a row, added a custom field called 'Syspro Ref' , text field, 10 chars. I can add it to the account screen as a text box, but the label won't appear.

When I try Edit Labels, it is in that list, label and all, but it just won't appear on the screen in edit or view mode.

I'm running 4,2 on windows 2003 server with apache (bitrock installer).

I have checked the faq, and this forum for a similar query, but a lack of such makes me suspect that I'm doing something remarkably dumb. I've been through the 'add field' and 'edit screen' tasks about seven times though, without getting any further.

    Thanks in advance,

    Chris

Hi Chris, I've had this problem before. There were two things I did to resolve it.
    1. Go to the Admin/ Layout Editor and select the file you want and then select the edit labels. Usually when I picked the lable I wanted to edit the value was blank. Enter your value, hit save and Wala.
    OR
    2. Go to /custom/modulename/include/language/en_us.lang.php and add the label in there.

You need to make sure that the custom folder is writeable as well or it won't work.

Thanks for the help, I think it was down to the security settings on the custom folder, it started to look a lot better once I updated that.
