probelm in actions of list view of leads

dear dear,
i want to add 2 anchor tag links items 1) new lead 2) dead lead , similar to export , merge, mass update items in action list of list view of lead module.
i am using 3 files for this right now -
1) custom/modules/leads/views/view.list.php
2)custom/modules/leads/leadslistviewsmarty.php
3)include/ListView/ListViewDisplay.php

functions i want to perform -
1) change the actions items i.e. new leads and dead leads similar to other action list items
2) perform the operations of picking new leads on clicking new leads and picking values of old leads
on clicking old lead link in action list.

Here i also know whether i am using the right files to perform such functions on list view of leads or not.

Another way i found to sort out my problem ---creating the action in menu ACTIONS in horzontal position but now i not able to fetch values from the database . I don't know where i write down the code for fetching the status of leads table..... Any suggestion in this regard will be highly obliged
