If you don't have a ton of customizations in the code base (through the UI/Studio is fine) I'd highly suggest upgrading your SugarCRM install to the latest 6.4.0 release. It looks like you are running into an old bug of some sort in Sugar although I'm unable to reproduce it.

Bufff... moving the whole system to 6.4 it is quite aggressive for me, now with all the work done in 5.5.1.

Finally we got to solve the issue of not being able to change the password of an user. We have removed the call to the JavaScript function "Set_Chooser" in the custom/modules/user/editview.tpl file.

In IE works fine however in Firefox we still get the popup window asking us to confirm the user. Although our users work with IE we will leave it there for the moment.

Thanks a lot for the help!!
