Problem importing csv to contacts

Guys, here is a jpg screenshot of my problem. Somehow these symbols are being added once the file is imported, and these symbols aren't visible in the csv/excel file. I can remove them manually when I import a small batch, but when I have hundreds to import like I do, it would take forever. I had this same problem importing into Salesforce before I made the switch. Can anyone help me with this and prevent this issue from happening in the future? On the screen shot the 2 places problems exist are in the Street Address & Suite. Thanks for the help

This looks like an issue with file encoding. Under your user settings, advanced tab, you should see an 'Import/Export Character Set.' make sure this setting is the same that the file was encoded in. UTF-8 is a general standard these days, so that should work.

I don't know how to look for how the file was encoded when I save, but I know it is CSV format
