problem with inbound

I installed the product under LAMP (shared hosting)

System seems to work fine, excpet the inbound email.
When trying to set the POP3 info under the user info, the test setup is not working. screen stays forever with teh message:
Test Settings
One moment please...

When trying to save the info, FF is poping a windows "opening index.php" and doesnt save teh info
Under IE, I am getting "The page cannot be displayed"
refresh brings SugarCRM home page (index.php)

BTW, installing the sw under win xp (apache server) works fine.

Any idea ?

Check out the error logs, post anything interesting along with details of your setp (Version of sugar, Apache, PHP etc) and you will be more likely to get some help.

Another potential problem may be that your shared hosting provider is blocking pop3 access from your host.

Sorry to bring up an old post, however this is similar to the problem I am having, was a solution ever found?
