I receive the following error when I try to run the sugarcrm configuration:

Database admin user name and/or password is invalid (Error 1251: Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client).

My setup is the following:
OS: Windows XP SP2
Apache: 2.2.3
PHP 4.4.3
MySQL 5.0

On the system check everything is fine, my php.ini has MySQL enabled.
The password used for root is correct (I checked with SQL Administrator)

Any ideas (I do not think an mysql 5 needs an upgrade, it mainlythe last stable version)
