Problem with Mass update to custom field

I have encountered a problem using mass update in the Contacts module when trying to update a custom field. As far as I can tell everything is ok when updating the standard fields, and even when updating custom fields from other modules.

I only have the one custom field in contacts, so I don't know if somehow it is just the one field or the module that is the problem. I am using 5.0.0b.

When I do a mass update to the field (Contact Type) it does not update the contact, but rather creates a new contact where the only field with data is the field where the mass update was applied.

I am not sure what code to check to try to identify why a new record is being created as opposed to updating an existing one.

same issue we are having here.... Mass update issue

looks like any mass updating into sugar using custom fields after data is in the system is broken.... which is rough cause i have like 25 custom fields i need to update.

Thanks for pointing out that thread, and especially the bug fix included in the thread. It fixed my problem.
