Problem with screen resolution and layout

i've been having a problem since 4.5 and screen layouts. My laptop had a high resolution, and sugar displayed fine, but when I go to a lower resolution I get part of the screen on one side, and the other part on the other side. It's easier to show you. http://www.smartchive.com/sugarscreen.gif

This is really annoying. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
