Problems connecting to Exchange 2007 STARTTLS error appears

Good Evening.

We are trying to set up our outbound email settings on Sugar Professional 6.1.1 with our new exchange server. We were told the details by our provider to set the Auth to TLS as the exchange server is set to use TLS. However, when we put in the details to the email settings (and we know the password is correct as we have successfully connected using Thunderbird) and save, and tested sending email through the email module (find this easier to look at the logs) and this appears in our Sugarcrm logs.

Now, we have tried to look at this STARTTLS error but there hasn't been anything conculsive. Now does anyone have experience with setting up exchange to work with sugar and if so, anything needed on the exchange side for sugar to connect?

This looks like a problem related to the way your mail server authenticates users. One of the methods is to start the mail with TLS and the rest of the mail is then sent without encryption, just plain text. In Sugar 6.4.2 I see 3 options
-no authentication
-TLS
-SSL
You and I seem to need an option that would say: "STARTTLS"
