Products as Asset

Dear all,

I am a newbie on sugarcrm!!

As in Quote where you can have multiple times same product in one quote, is it possible to do this in accout subpanal for products (like in OpenSales for SugarCRM).
In detail: Is it possible to associate multiple times same product to an account as asset?

It is very usual that the customer purchases same product mutiple times and one want to track quantity customer has for a product and want to make some notes to each asset (serialized product).

I was able to create many to many relationship (standard module functionality) with a new module called product, (based on basic) and account. But in Account subpanel only one product could be realted to an account instead on multiple. I want to store some Information on the intersection table.

Any input how I can do it.

You can assign different asset numbers or different serial numbers to products. This makes sense in an asset management.
I just tried it in the demo environment, see attached hardcopy for details how it looks...

This is exectly what I need for my purpuses. Could you provide me please the module you have created to enable this. What changes did you actualy to accociate same products multiple time to same account?

Is it a combination of your own develpment and the opensales module?
Are you using the SugarCommunityEdition?

I used the SugarCRM demo of the enterprise edition.

This implemetation of products is part of the enterprise and I think too of the professional edition but not of the community edition.

I want to create this module on my own, because there is no budget for buying the sugar enterprice edition. Can somebody help, how to have same products multiple times for an account. Extacty the same how it is on the hard copy, but developed in sugarCE.

Or are there other community module supporting this functionality?

Just goto admin - module builder and create a new module.
I attached an example to this post which can be installed in Version 5.0.0 module loader.
DO NOT install it in 4.x.x or 5.1.x, NEVER (it will destroy your harddisk and convert your computer in a 100 years running spam-machine )!

In your example same product has to be created multiple times in the asset tab.

Actualy I want to ensure data entegrity there for I want to have one product in the product tab. An when I chose it in Accounts ist is handeld a asset where asset no and serial no should be edit able.

The additional information (e.g. Serial No.) should be saved on Intersection Table between Account and Product.

Thanks to all who delivered input I will try to go trough the documentations and find out how to do that.
