    Default Project Management Resources

I am looking at using sugar crm to manage a construction company. I have found the project management function useful so far, but a little difficult to use. Can anyone point me in the direction of how to assign resources?

I am trying to accomplish making sub contract labor forces a resource and assigning them to the project.

    Thx

You're subcontractors, if they are not system users, need to be Contacts. Then you can add them as resources. Only the assigned to: user can add a resource but anybody, can assign them to a task. At least when the normal roles are used. I haven't looked to see if roles can be limited for this. Probably isn't even an issue in the CE version.

The resources drop down is empty. How do I populate that field? Contacts?

After you create a project and before you go into the gantt, you need to select resources in the Resource subpanel. Then those resources will be available for that project. You're resources are either users who have logged into the system or contacts you have created.

This is all covered pretty well in the manual.

For those who can't see the Resource subpanel, it's probably because it's hidden. Look in the Admin panel for that.

The sugar project task module allows just one resourse to be assigned to a project task.
If you want to assign multiple resources to a project task is needed to implement your own creative solution.

In this case I created a many to many relationship between project tasks and users. It solved the problem, but the old resource field of project tasks become useless.
