Proposals & Document Library

Hi All

Currently running 6.1 Pro.

As part of our sales process, we send out proposals. Our proposals are not single page, quote style proposals - they are documents of usually 5 - 20 pages (depends on the business unit), customised for each opportunity.

From my searching, it looks like the only feature Sugar offers is the quotes module, which does not suit our needs at all. My searching has also found the potential way of doing it by adding a note/Attachment to an Opportunity/Account and attaching the proposal created in another app (ie word).

This might satisfy the requirement, however I'd like to know if the document library in Sugar could be utilised to facilitate in maintaining all documents in one location?

Hello,

I would recommend creating custom relationship of opportunity with Sugar's default Documents module. As it will keep all your documents in 1 module and a huge plus those documents will be available to be used as attachments in Email module.

That seems to work well (the document gets into the document library and is also attached to the opportunity).

Is it possible to attach a document to an opportunity, where the document is residing in the document library? I ask this as it might be reasonable to assume that a user uses word to crate the document and uploads it to the library using the office plugin. This gets the file into the library, but can't see where to attach that document to the opportunity.

When using the document module, you only get to upload from the local machine.

Hello,

You would have created Many-to-Many relationship. Which means you will have subpanel of Opportunities in document module. If you will have one document per opportunity, you should go for One-to-One relationship.
